BETH: THE JUNGLE QUEEN

  Started in 1993

the Idea came when I was drinking on the upstairs patio of                                    Sunshine Co, looking down on the vacant lot across the street and        thinking,"someone should do something with that place".

Also, I was frustrated that there wasn't anywhere to sit outside and have a coffee.

Plus, I wanted to fix up my patio and didn't like having to go all the way to Home Depot.

All those ideas converged into JJ. coffee & garden shop.

An odd concept at the time. Mixing 2 retail ideas under one roof (or lack thereof!). All my friends thought I was bonkers, but OBecians are open to new ideas and it worked. We even opened rather oddly.  My husband were putting on the finishing touches in preparation for our grand opening the next day. He opened the gate to take a picture from the street and a couple wandered in and sat down and ordered a drink! So we opened a day early!

Right from the beginning, people have been drawn to the healing, welcoming vibe. It has grown over the years, filled in, morphed, but always retains the essential character. an oasis in the concrete jungle. A place where people can relax and "rejavanate". You see peoples entire bodies change the minute they walk in the door. You see them breathe deeper, our healing oxygen rich air mingled with the negative ions of the ocean. The sounds of gurgling water from the fountains and all the greenery and dancing lightHave an instant affect.

We also love the artistic side of life and have always carried goods from local artisans and craftspeople which add to the mix.
We have been able to expand on our principles of being organic, as sustainable as possible, and living lightly upon our earth
